Creating and sending a campaign only takes a few minutes and consists of four automated steps.
Create a campaign
Click «Create a campaign» on the left-hand menu of the email service:
Add information about the campaign
Fill in all the fields.
Mailing list — choose an address book among those you have created before (use a drop-down menu) or create a new one.
At this stage, you can use segmentation (see paragraph Send a campaign using segmentation).
Sender email address — choose the necessary sender address from the drop-down list if you have several active sender addresses in your account.
Sender name — this is the name you defined when registering a sender email address. You can change it manually if necessary in the service settings:
Subject line — an interesting subject with a call-to-action can really motivate your subscribers to open and read a newsletter. Add the recipient's name in the subject line or any other his personal information using the "personalization" feature.
How to personalize the subject line?
This service allows you to personalize the subject line by adding information about the client that is provided in the address book.

There must be extra columns with additional information about clients in the mailing list.
The service will offer a choice of available variables from the list of the column names you have on the mailing list.
In this example we will go with recipients' first name:
Reference by name is used most of the time.
The result will be as follows:
- Make sure that the name of your client is correct. Of course, people have a sense of humor, but no one will open an email with a subject line like “Dear Mr.X, visit us for a cup of coffee.” If you are not sure that the names are correct, do not personalize your campaign.
- If not all clients specified their names during sign up, there will be a blank space in the place of the variable.
Smart personalization – is a substitution of personal information about a client in an email. You may not have the same data about all the subscribers, so in this case, the smart personalization will be to your advantage. Depending on the information you have, every subscriber will receive a personalized email.
Smart personalization is carried out with the help of variable values:
- is empty
- doesn't equal
- doesn’t contain
- starts with
- ends with
- more than
- equals or more than
- less than
- equals or less than
For example, you want to send a personalized email campaign, but you don’t have all the names of your subscribers. In this case, click «Add criteria» and choose variable value «is empty» and add a text for the substitution:
This is how the subject line will look like after that:
Thus, every subscriber will receive a personalized email.
Note that you can also insert emoji in the subject line:

Choose a template that you had created before or import one from a file or by pasting its HTML-code:

Email text personalization
Variables in the contact lists allow SendPulse users to add clients’ personal data to the text of emails.
The process is very simple. The names of variables are the column names you have on the mailing list.
When you add the variable to the text of the template, the recipient opens the message and sees their personal information (from the corresponding column on your mailing list) in place of the variable.
Technically, it looks like this:
And again, the same way the "smart personalization" works in the subject line, it works in the email body:
Suggest text for the substitution
As a result, we get this text:
Each variable will be substituted with the information from the address book that corresponds with the recipient.
Configure campaign parameters
“Collect statistics” — configure options to collect statistics by the recipients' actions.
“Unsubscribe page” and “Language of the unsubscribe form” — attach a custom unsubscribe page or the default one to the email and set the language of the unsubscribe form, depending on the language of your target audience.
“Subscription category” — add a category for the subscription and provide the customers, who are subscribed to several subscriptions, with an opportunity to unsubscribe from one of them, but not from all at once.
“Email archiving” — check the "Add this email to archive" checkbox and get access to the subscription after deleting data from your account.
“Automation 360 email flow” — enable an automated email flow upon trigger actions. As soon as recipients open the email or follow the link, they will automatically receive subsequent emails of the series which you set up.
Review and send
Before you send the campaign, check the following data:
- Sender's name
- Subject line
- Address book
Each point can be modified if necessary.
How to track campaign statistics through Google Analytics
For Google Analytics to collect the statistics of your campaign that you sent with the help of our service, you need to specify additional parameters.
First, tick «Add Google Analytics and Yandex.Metrika tags».
Second, check the campaign name (mandatory point).
SendPulse automatically inserts the same name that you specified as subject.
We recommend checking this point every time:
- Preferably, use Roman letters.
- Avoid using specific symbols such as “+ ; / * & ?” and so on.

The last step allows you to specify the sending time.
In «Sending time» choose “Send on:” and set the necessary time and date. The service will automatically send emails at the specified time:
Besides, now you can send emails by time zone for scheduled messages.
Resend to unreads
If a subscriber didn’t open your email, there is the "Resend message to clients who didn’t open it" option. In this case, the email will be sent out once again via email. You just need to create a new subject line, set the time and sending date.
Before you send the message to your clients, you can test it:
A test message is sent to the email address registered as the sender email address in the service.
If you have activated several sender addresses, you can choose the one you need.

Attention! For security reasons, there are restrictions on sending campaigns:
- 4 marketing campaigns per hour via API;
- 1 campaign to the same mailing list in 15 minutes from your personal account.
