Manage digital product subscriptions
Every subscription has a status that indicates its current state. Combined with the associated dates, subscription statuses help you see who has active access, who is due for renewal, and whose access has expired.
Let’s talk about how to view a subscription's status, how recurring charges and retries work, what each subscription date means, and how to manage a subscription.

View a subscription status
To view subscriptions, go to eCommerce > Payments > Subscribers. Each subscriber has a status icon. To learn more about a status, hover over its icon next to the contact.
A subscription can have the following statuses:
| Active | The subscriber paid for the subscription and is using it.* |
| Pending | The payment has not been completed yet. |
| Suspended | The subscription was suspended by a team member. |
| Canceled / Expired | A team member or user canceled the subscription. |
If a recurring payment fails, for example, because of insufficient funds, the payment provider retries the payment the next day. If the retry also fails, SendPulse skips that charge and makes the next attempt on the next scheduled billing date. For these subscribers, the subscription expiration date is in the past.

Manage a subscription
To manage a subscription, go to eCommerce > Payments > Subscribers. Next to a subscriber, click the three dots and choose an action:
| Pause subscription | Revokes access to the digital product and stops charging the customer. The subscription becomes Suspended. You can only pause Active subscriptions. |
| Resume subscription | Restores access to the digital product and starts charging the customer again. You can resume only Suspended subscriptions. |
| Synth subscription with payment system | Syncs the subscription data with the payment provider. Use this option after you cancel, suspend, or renew a subscription outside SendPulse. |
| Cancel subscription |
Permanently revokes access to the digital product and stops charging the customer. You can't resume a canceled subscription. The customer's subscription stays active until the end of the current period, and they won't be charged after it ends. You can also create a chatbot flow to cancel subscriptions.
