How to connect Klarna as a payment system
You can add a payment button to your chatbots and landing pages to accept online payments from users through Klarna. This payment method offers customers flexible payment options, such as recurring or installment payments. It encourages customers’ loyalty and increases conversions.
In this article, we will talk about how to connect Klarna as a payment system in your SendPulse account.
Klarna features
This integration allows customers to select Klarna as a payment method on your eCommerce platform. They will be redirected to their Klarna account, where they can select a payment option. Klarna offers various payment options, including one-time payments, recurring payments (up to 30 days), or installment payments.

Create your merchant account
Go to the official Klarna page, and create a merchant account.
You need to provide comprehensive information about your business and agree to the terms of use.
Once you create a merchant account, you will get access to the Merchant portal.
Klarna limits its list of supported countries and business sectors.

Get your Klarna API key
In the Merchant portal, go to Payment settings > Klarna API Key. Copy the key value or generate a new one.
Connect Klarna to SendPulse
Log in to your SendPulse account, and go to Account settings > Accept payments.
Next to Klarna, click Connect.
Enter your merchant name, and configure payment options.
Secret key (API Key) | Enter the key value you copied in the Merchant portal. |
Merchant Portal Region |
Select the region where you run your business. This allows Klarna to comply with local payment-related laws and ensures that transactions are processed correctly. |
Purchase country code |
Select a country of purchase from the list using its code. This allows Klarna to process transactions correctly based on local regulations. |
The currency of your products | Select the currency using which customers will be charged. |
Tax rate |
Enter the total order tax percentage. This ensures accurate total amount calculation, including taxes. |
Payment page language | You can specify the payment page language that your customer will see. |
Terms URL | If necessary, add a link to your order terms and conditions. |
Your region, purchase country code, and product currency must match those you specified in the Merchant portal.
If the values are correct, you will receive a notification, and your connection status will change to Connected
.
You can choose this payment method when creating chatbot and landing page payment buttons.
You can view your payment history in the same tab. Mark the list of successful transactions or payment errors to quickly respond to them.
