New GDPR Tools for SendPulse Users

The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) came into effect on May 25th, 2018. As a result, SendPulse has prepared a set of tools for its users.

We have introduced two new links which when added to the email project will:

  1. Allow subscribers to edit or delete their personal information.
  2. Provide an option to re-confirm consent to receive messages.

Manage subscription data

The «Manage Subscription Data» link will lead subscribers to the web form where they can edit personal data or request its complete removal from the sender’s database. The same form will give users options to agree to the Terms of Use and Privacy Policy and control the processing of their data.

Reconfirm subscription

The «Reconfirm Subscription» link will lead to the web form requesting a post-GDPR consent. The subscriber has to tick checkboxes in the subscription form to allow processing of his personal data and to confirm agreement to the Terms of Use and Privacy Policy.

Re-confirm subcription GDPR SendPulse

Since SendPulse has users from around the globe, and the GDPR applies only to clients from the European Union, both links are optional, and the sender needs to add them to the email template manually.

New variables

At the same time, new variables will be added to the mailing lists automatically. They will indicate whether or not subscribers have agreed to the Terms of Use and Privacy Policy, and processing of their data. If they have, the variables will point when and from which IP address they gave consent.

Subscription status

Whenever a client requests personal data deletion, SendPulse will assign a corresponding status to the contact on the mailing list. Users won’t be able to send messages to those who have requested personal data removal.

According to subscribers’ statuses, SendPulse users can filter, clean up, and segment their mailing lists.

In brief

Now SendPulse users have all necessary tools to arrange their email campaigns according to the GDPR. They can allow clients to re-subscribe, view, edit, or delete personal data. Subscriber’s status and new GDPR-related variables are handy for the segmentation of mailing lists.
